Sonneries britanniques au sifflet
Dans l'armée britannique, des unités d’infanterie légère utilisèrent des signaux au sifflet dès le début du 18ème siècle. Le sifflet faisait partie de l’équipement des officiers. Les commandements étaient semblables à ceux sonnés au bugle (clairon). Ils furent modifiés pendant la Guerre d’Indépendance des États-Unis car ils étaient connus des troupes américaines.
