Sonneries régimentaires des Bataillons de chasseurs
Créés en 1838 les Bataillons de Chasseurs à pied furent une trentaine en 1870. Certains bataillons deviendront "Chasseurs Alpins" et pendant la 1ère guerre mondiale il y eu jusqu'à 78 Bataillons et 10 Groupes de Chasseurs cyclistes attachés aux unités de Cavalerie.Plus tard on trouvera aussi des bataillon de Chasseurs parachutistes
Chaque bataillon avait un refrain.
Seuls les 32 les plus importants sont recensés ici. Ces refrains sont complètement différents entre eux aussi bien au niveau du ton que du texte.
Chaque nouveau chasseur doit connaître les 32 refrains conservés pour passer son «baptême chasseur».
La tradition veut que chacun des 31 refrains (des 31 premiers bataillons) corresponde à un jour du mois.
L'avant dernier correspond au refrain du 40e bataillon créé en 1895 à Madagascar, d'où ses paroles spécifiques et le dernier au 1er Bataillon de Chasseurs parachutistes.
Il est de coutume de sonner chaque matin le refrain du jour avant l'appel de la compagnie.
Il reste peu d'unités d'active mais elles conservent soigneusement les traditions "chasseur".
